New Year greetings from the MSUPAA President

I am honored to be elected the MSUPAA President for 2019.   After a long career in packaging, it’s time for me to give back to the school I love, strengthen friendships with other MSU alums, and hopefully be a small part in helping the next generation of packaging professionals and leaders.

I want to thank Karen Keeder for her great leadership over the past 2+ years. Following Karen will not be an easy task. She led our board through leadership and curriculum changes as well as provided the foundation to create our updated MSUPAA mission statement and motto.

With the generous financial support from corporate and individual sponsors, in 2018 we were able to distribute over $75,000 between student scholarships, the Student Packaging Jamboree hosted by MSU, the School of Packaging building renovation fund, and Packaging student groups. While financial support is great, it’s not always about money. The PAA helps support and provide advice to packaging student groups, MSU faculty and staff. As an example, we annually host resume reviews and mock interviews before career fairs and organize the annual packaging awards banquet. Key events in 2019 include the annual Packaging awards banquet on April 11^th, our Pack Expo reception in Las Vegas on September 23^rd, and the tailgate prior to the Homecoming football game on September 28^th in front of the School of Packaging building.   Both are a great way to meet up with old Spartan friends and make new ones.
