A Presidential Welcome to 2016

Posted: February 8th, 2016 by Michigan State Alumni Association
Greetings and Happy 2016, Spartan Packaging Alumni.
I wanted to share a few updates on recent and upcoming happenings at the MSU School of Packaging and the MSU Packaging Alumni Association.
We kicked off 2016 with the Packaging Career Fair in late January, and each year the PAA and hiring companies are consistently wowed by the quality of students in the Packaging program. The career fair is a wonderful opportunity to connect with many future industry professionals, but also to give back to current students via resume reviews, practice interviews, and career fair advice.
In March, the PAA will watch proudly as two of our outstanding Alumni are presented with the some of the highest honors awarded by our College Alumni Association, CANRAA. Kathy Grace is being presented with the CANR Alumni Service Award, and Tom Snyder is being presented with the CANRAA Outstanding Alumnus Award. Both individuals are very deserving and we are thrilled to have our school represented at this ceremony.  See past winners and more here.
On April 14th, the School of Packaging and PAA host our annual Awards Banquet. Over 50 scholarship recipients will be recognized for their scholastic achievements and contributions to the Packaging student community. Several MSU SoP alumni will also be honored with awards from the PAA. There are just a few days left to submit your nominations for Young Alumni, Innovation, Service and Hall of Fame Awards, so don’t delay in completing your applications! (Nominations due February 19, 2016)
Last but not least on the events agenda: it’s never too early to start planning for Homecoming and Pack Expo.  Mark your calendar for the PAA’s annual Homecoming Tailgate on Saturday, October 15th, and our Pack Expo Reunion on Monday, November 7th. More details to follow.
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the MSUPAA, please click here to learn more. Sponsorship offers a plethora of benefits to you as a sponsor, as well as to the school and students.  In the past year alone, our sponsors have helped to provide over $30,000 in scholarships to very deserving packaging students; have helped to fund two undergraduate research assistantships; and supported early-stage funding to create initial plans for the School of Packaging facilities expansion.
Feel free to contact us with any ideas or questions you may have!
GO GREEN!
Sincerely,
Brian Dynda
